He graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1983 and achieved his post-graduation degree, Master’s in Public Health & Hospital Management (MPH-HM), from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) under BSMMU, securing first position. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in health and hospital management, both domestically and internationally.
Dr. Dabir has a distinguished professional career and has successfully completed his assigned roles with dignity and honor in many well-reputed hospitals in the country. He worked as Clinical Director at United Hospital, Medical Director at Labaid Hospital, and Chief Executive Officer at BRB Hospital. Before joining AWCH, he was the Chief Operating Officer at Impulse Hospital.
Dr. Dabir has vast experience in various areas of the health sector, having worked with national, international, and multinational organizations. He served as a Management Consultant for UNDP, a Physician & Health Administrator under the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Saudi Arabia, and Country Head of Oncology at Sanofi-Aventis Bangladesh, a renowned multinational pharmaceutical company.

He was the first staff member of AWCH and has played a key role in its development and success since its inception. He joined as Project Manager on January 1, 2002, and over the years, climbed various rungs of the management ladder to reach his present position. He graduated from Dhaka University in 1991 and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management (PGDPM) from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM). He also received an MBA from Manarat International University (MIU), which has equipped him with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage a healthcare institution.
Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Islam worked under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for eight years, starting in February 1992. During this time, he held various roles and capacities, gaining valuable experience in healthcare management and administration. Before leaving his government job, he was an administrative officer at the Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH), where he gained extensive experience in managing maternal and child health services.
He also has diverse and impressive experience working in an international organization like Sharjah Charity International from September 2000 to December 2001. Before retiring, he was the Director of Medical Services at Army Headquarters, responsible for overseeing the medical care and treatment of soldiers and their families. Throughout his career in the military, Brig Gen Rafiq held command, staff, and instructional appointments. He gained extensive experience serving in both field hospitals and Combined Military Hospitals, providing medical care and treatment to soldiers and civilians alike. He served in different training institutes like the Army Medical Corps Centre & School (AMCC&S) and Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI).
During his illustrious career, he played a significant leadership role in planning, training, and administration of military outfits. As his career progressed, Brigadier General Md Rafiqul Islam (Retd) continued to pursue advanced studies in healthcare and medical management. To further enhance her expertise in the field of Neonatology, she completed a fellowship in Neonatology from the University of Edinburgh in 1991. This experience provided her with advanced knowledge and skills in the care of newborns.
In addition to her medical qualifications, Prof. Soofia also completed a Master of Health Personnel Education (MHPEd) from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2000. This program focused on developing leadership and management skills for healthcare professionals.
Prof. Soofia began her career in the medical field in 1981 as a Medical Officer. She was elevated to Assistant Professor in 1993 and then advanced through the ranks in the academic field. In 2004, she was appointed as Professor, the highest academic rank in the field of Medicine. During this long journey, she served in different hospitals and medical colleges in the country.
Prof. Soofia Khatun’s passion for improving the health and well-being of women and children has led her to become involved in several organizations and committees dedicated to this cause. She currently serves as the vice-chair of the Breastfeeding Foundation, an organization that aims to promote and protect breastfeeding. In addition, Prof. Soofia was the immediate past president of the Bangladesh Neonatal Forum.
She is also involved with BCPS, where she serves as the scientific secretary of the executive committee. Furthermore, she is the Chairperson of the IYFC and Nutritional subcommittee of the BPA. She is an executive committee member of the Association of Medical Education.

As a trainer for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), BPS, Centre for Medical Education, and OGSB, she helps train and educate healthcare professionals on the best practices in maternal and child health.
