The holy month of Ramadan is the perfect opportunity to use the Power of Zakat. It is a time for us to pause and reflect, leave behind bad habits and replace them with good ones, increase our acts of worship and good deeds, and practice self-discipline - all for the sake of Allah SWT.

Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the holiest months in Islam. It is a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community for Muslims around the world. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the foundational acts of worship and practice for Muslims.

Fasting during Ramadan is not only about abstaining from physical needs but also involves increased prayer, self-discipline, and acts of charity. It is a time for spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and empathy for those less fortunate.

Let's talk about the Significance

Sadaqah is a voluntary charitable donation in Islam that can be given at any time and in any amount. It is often expressed as gratitude, purity, or generosity. Sadaqah is also considered an investment in the hereafter, as it benefits the giver even after death. It is a means of earning Allah’s mercy and forgiveness, as well as a way to attain a higher rank in Paradise.

In Ramadan if a person is unable to fast because he is elderly or sick with no hope of recovery, then he is not obliged to fast. Instead he should feed one poor person for each day (Fidyah).

Nisab is the minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must have to be obligated to pay Zakat, a form of charitable giving in Islam. If one's wealth meets or exceeds the Nisab threshold, they are required to give a portion (usually 2.5%) to support those in need.

Giving Zakat impacts AWCH and society.

Zakat is a Powerful Pillar

  1. Zakat, or almsgiving, is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with prayer, fasting, pilgrimage (Hajj), and belief in Allah (SWT) and His Messenger Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
  2. In the Holy Qur’an (2:110), we read, “And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves—you will find it with Allah; surely Allah sees what you do.”
  3. Zakat is a promise that we must fulfill to help those in need.
  4. At AWCH, we will carefully spend your Zakat donation for those who are in need.

Give your Zakat to AWCH

In the Quran (2:177), Allah emphasizes that true righteousness goes beyond rituals; it lies in belief, charity, prayer, and steadfastness in adversity. There's a recognized right for the needy in our wealth (70:24-25).

At AWCH, your Zakat fund is allocated where it's needed most. As a hospital dedicated to the well-being of women and children, we prioritize its usage towards enhancing childbirth facilities, procuring essential children's medicines, facilitating post-operative care, and improving overall medical facilities.
