Special Research Project

This hospital conducts various research projects to improve the health conditions of mothers and children and contribute effectively to the country's health services. A few of the research projects and activities are as follows:

Research activities:


  • 1. "Reducing Unnecessary Caesarean Sections," sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation – Ongoing.
  • 2. "Recently, AWCH has been included in a WHO-approved multi-country, multi-center research project. The project aims to study the efficacy of antenatal corticosteroids in improving outcomes for preterm newborns. This is Phase III of the trial, and AWCH was also involved in Phase I, making a commendable contribution. The trial is being conducted jointly by the Projahnmo Research Foundation, John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and BSMMU.
  • 3. Plays an active role in research on Childhood Tuberculosis, Adolescent Health, Child Obesity, and Emergency Obstetric Care (EOC).
  • 4. AWCH works in collaboration with UN agencies, the Government, NGOs, and international organizations.
