Dr. Dabir Uddin Ahmed, a renowned Consultant in Hospital Management joined as Chief Executive Officer of Ashulia Women and Children Hospital (AWCH), formerly known as the Centre for Woman and Child Health in March 2020. He graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1983 and achieved his post-graduation degree Master’s in Public Health and Hospital Management [MPH-HM] from the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) under BSMMU securing first position. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in health and hospital management both at home & abroad.
Dr. Dabir has a bright history in his professional career and he successfully completed his assigned job with dignity and honor in many well-reputed hospitals in the country. He worked as Clinical Director at United Hospital, Medical Director at Labaid Hospital, and Chief Executive Officer at BRB Hospital. Before joining AWCH he was the Chief Operating Officer at Impulse Hospital.
Dr. Dabir has vast experience in diversified areas of the health sector such as working with national, international, and multinational organizations. He worked as Management Consultant at UNDP, Physician & Health Administrator under the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Saudi Arabia, and Country Head of oncology, at Sanofi-Aventis Bangladesh, a renowned multinational pharmaceutical company.
Besides his expertise in healthcare management, he has good leadership and a wide range of networking. He is an amazing organizer and a media personnel as well. He has excellent quality in organizing various academic and medical awareness programs involving renowned physicians of the country, high-profile personalities, and journalists. He has the ability to start innovative programs for both clinical & nonclinical staff aiming ‘out of the box’ services for better patient care.

Md. Rafiqul Islam is the Director of Operations of Ashulia Women and Children Hospital since February 2018. He was the first staff member of AWCH and ever since has played a key role in its development and success since its inception. He joined as Project Manager on 1st January 2002 and over the years climbed various rungs of the management ladder to reach the present position. He graduated from Dhaka University in 1991 and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management (PGDPM) from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM). He also received an MBA from Manarat International University (MIU) which has equipped him with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage a healthcare institution.
Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Islam worked under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for 8 long years, starting from February 1992. During this time he held various roles and capacities, gaining valuable experience in healthcare management and administration. Before leaving his government job, he was an administrative officer at the Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH), where he gained extensive experience in managing maternal and child health services.
He has also diverse and impressive experience of working in an international organization like Sharjah Charity International from September 2000 to December 2001. Since February 2018 he has been serving as the Director of Operations, a position that has allowed him to exercise even greater leadership in the organization. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all aspect of hospital operations, including hospital growth, policy making, and staff management. Overall, his lengthy career and diverse experiences in the healthcare industry have equipped him with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively lead and manage a healthcare institution.

He graduated from Sir Salimulllah Medical College in 1988 with an MBBS degree. He then joined Bangladesh Army in the Medical Corps where he served for 31 years in various roles and capacities. Before retiring he was the Director Medical Services at Army Headquarters with the responsibility of overseeing the medical care and treatment of soldiers and their families.
Throughout his career in military Brig Gen Rafiq held command, staff and instructional appointments. He gained extensive experience of serving in both field hospitals and Combined Military Hospitals providing medical care and treatment to soldiers and civilians alike.
He served in different training institutes like Army Medical Corps Centre & School (AMCC&S) and Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI). During his illustrious career, he played a significant leadership role in planning, training and administration of military outfits. As his career progressed, Brigadier General Md Rafiqul Islam (Retd) continued to pursue advanced studies in healthcare and medical management. He did his MPH in Epidemiology during 2001 and 2002. He also did MPhil degree in Healthcare and Hospital Management from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and MMEd from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He is an examiner of BUP and BSMMU. He is an adjunct faculty of Armed Forces Medical Institute.
He was a member of Bangladeshi Contingent in the reconstruction of war torn Kuwait. He also represented Bangladesh as a proud member of UN Peace Keeping Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Professor Dr. Soofia Khatun is an accomplished pediatrician and is now working as Professor and Head of Pediatrics of Ashulia Women and Children Hospital since December 2014. She is also the Academic Director of Institute of Child Health.
Prof. Soofia graduated from Dhaka Medical College in 1980 and then pursued her career in the field of Pediatrics. She achieved her FCPS degree in 1988. To further enhance her expertise in the field of Neonatology, she completed a fellowship in Neonatology from the University of Edinburg in 1991. This experience provided her with advanced knowledge and skill in the care of newborns.
In addition to her medical qualifications, Prof. Soofia also completed a Master of Health Personnel Education (MHPEd) from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2000. This program focused on developing leadership and management skill for healthcare professionals.
Prof. Soofia began her career in the medical field in 1981 as Medical Officer. She was elevated to Assistant Professor in 1993 and then advanced through the ranks in the academic field. In 2004 she was appointed as Professor, the highest academic rank in the field of Medicine. During this long journey she served in different hospitals and medical colleges of the country.
Prof. Soofia Khatun’s passion for improving the health and well-being of women and children has led her to become involved in several organizations and committees dedicated to this cause. She currently serves as the vice-chair of Breastfeeding Foundation, an organization that aims to promote and protect breast feeding. In addition, Prof. Soofia was the immediate past president of the Bangladesh Neonatal Forum.
She is also involved with BCPS, where she serves as the scientific secretary of the executive committee. Furthermore, she is the Chairperson of the IYFC and Nutritional subcommittee of the BPA. She is an executive committee member of the Association of Medical Education.

As a trainer of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), BPS, Center for Medical Education and OGSB, she helps to train and educate healthcare professionals on the best practices in maternal and child health. Her involvement in faculty development program and Research Methodology training at BCPS shows her unwavering dedication to her profession.
